"On Self Reliance" Essay
In the essay "On Self Reliance" by Ralph Waldo Emerson, Emerson tries to reveal the truth in his own way, which is very bluntly. He tries (and succeeds to open the readers eyes to the reality that is impure. He (from what I got) gives advise from the way he sees that people will be happiest. He gives a lot of expertise and helps to inform that you can rely n yourself to change yourself, improve, and succeed. I think he explained that the best way possible.
In the essay, his tone varies, it goes back and forth. He ranges from a regular guy to a seemingly awakened monk who has learned the meaning of life, or a wise old man, full of years of wisdom and experience.
His diction consisted of maybe a genius level of literature, that just flows right out of this man and straight into his writing, although its is hard to understand the first time around, it is much clearer once the literature is explained and "cleaned up".
His syntax was very well thought out, it was very flowing, and it was very heartfelt, it came from both his way of thinking, and his way of feeling.
One of the quotes that really stood out for me and really caught my attention was "...Imitation is suicide...". That was my calling card for my career path that I hope to pave for myself.
